Artists on Ice, an air-conditioned showcase of Tucson's most talented emerging poets, musicians, filmmakers, and others, meets from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursdays. DOWNTOWN BLAST. Tucson Convention Center. 260 S. Church Ave. The Independence Day celebration begins with a pancake and sausage breakfast at 6 a.m. Friday, July 4. Cost is $3 per person. The early-riser breakfast will be followed by the Tour for Tucson's Children bicycle race. The TCC will re-open at 12:30 p.m. with the official Fourth of July Proclamation at 1 p.m. There will be food and games, music, displays, contests and entertainment throughout the afternoon and evening. Festivities will conclude with the annual A Mountain fireworks display. Admission to events is free. Call 791-4101 for information. FOURTH ON FOURTH. Bring the family for a Fourth of July bash from 5 to 11 p.m. Friday, July 4. There will be food, fun, activities, and six bands playing live, Independence Day entertainment. Stick around and watch the A Mountain fireworks spectacle from the bleachers on the corner of Seventh Street and Fourth Avenue. ICE-CREAM SOCIAL. St. Philip's In The Foothills. 4440 N. Campbell Ave. 299-6421. Join the St. Philip's parish for a free ice-cream social at 11:15 a.m. Sunday, July 6, immediately following the Independence Day service, featuring patriotic music, at 10:15 a.m. Call 299-6421 for information. INDEPENDENCE ROCK. Arizona Historical Society's Fort Lowell Museum. 2900 N. Craycroft Road. Continue your Fourth of July celebration with a free concert by the Fourth U.S. Cavalry Regimental Band from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, July 5. This 16-member band, complete with replica Army uniforms from the 1880s, perform a varied and authentic repertoire of 19th century music. Bring the family, lawn chairs, a blanket, and enjoy. LIVE LASERS. The University of Arizona's Flandrau Science
Center presents a planetarium show of a different color with live
music by local band Mood Indigo, at 9 p.m. Thursday, July 3. Playing
songs from their new CD, as well as classic rock covers, Mood
Indigo will accompany the sights and lights of the live laser
show. Tickets are $8 at the door. Call 621-STAR for reservations
