Thanks, Tucson for participating in the first round of Best of Tucson voting for 2014. We wondered if this two-stage process would work (and maybe it still won't), but more people voted this year than any in BOT's all-digital age. Pat yourself on the back.
So, now we're on to the finalists.
You submitted your ballots and we counted every single one, with the possible exception of the person who voted for the same local restaurant in every category.
Also, sorry to be the bearer of bad news for you, person who used the ballot as an extended opportunity to discuss his genitals. Your peculiar and unique voice wasn't really reflected in the final ballot.
So, now we have five (in same cases fewer, if there weren't a significant number of nominations to fill a category) finalists for each prestigious Best of Tucson 2014 prize.
So, now it's your turn to vote again and pick which person, place or thing should be the eventual winner when the 2014 Best of Tucson issue comes out on October 2.
This round of voting lasts until June 30. The names in each category are in more or less alphabetical order and not in order of the votes they received in round one. We're starting from scratch, so whether you voted in the first phase or not, you can contribute to the process.
Like we mentioned before, here's a possibly helpful tip, you can save your work on the ballot and come back later...just make sure you finish up before the deadline, so all your important opinions are included.
Again, because we have to remind some people, these are the rules:
1. One ballot per person, please. We're watching IP addresses, so be honest!
2. Ballots without a full name and an email address will be thrown out and NOT counted. We check these things. Really! These email addresses will be used ONLY for ballot-verification purposes. Ballots using fake email addresses or phone numbers will be deleted.
3. You must vote in at least 30 different categories for us to count the ballot. Don't have an opinion on at least 30 categories? Maybe skip voting this time and make a resolution to experience more of Tucson before we vote again next year.
3a. This is probably a waste of pixels, but don't be a jerk. If you don't have an opinion in a category, skip it. Picking the first choice in each category isn't funny, as much as you might be chuckling to yourself as you click away.
4. Ballot-box stuffing is a no-no. You can do simple campaigning -- i.e., put up a sign encouraging readers to vote for you, or you can link from your website to ours -- but anything beyond that is forbidden. Any businesses, groups or individuals suspected of stuffing may be disqualified at the discretion of the editor. If you have questions or a tip regarding suspected ballot-box-stuffing, e-mail mailbag@tucsonweekly.com.
4a. If you have any issues with the ballot, something's misspelled, or something else goes awry, feel free to email us and let us know. Same address: mailbag@tucsonweekly.com
Our sincerest thanks for participating. Good luck to you if you'r e on the ballot and look for the results in our super-sized issue spectacular on October 2.
